Gilbert Education Foundation Scholarships

(Students may apply for ONE scholarship only)

BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL SCHOLARSHIPS:

  • Must be a graduating senior of Gilbert Public Schools.
  • Must plan on attending an accredited two or four-year College or University, technical or vocational school in the fall of 2017 or as indicated per each scholarship.
  • Must meet minimum requirements designated by each particular scholarship.
  • Only one application may be submitted per student. (You cannot apply to more than one scholarship, so choose scholarship that is the best fit for your education). 

SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTIONS:

Submit one completed packet by midnight online on or before Monday, March 2, 2018.  Applications must be submitted online by deadline or it will not qualify.  Each scholarship has its own specific application.  Be sure to check that you are filling out the correct application for the scholarship you wish to apply, meet the eligibility listed, and follow the specific instructions.   The application must be complete (i.e. PDF of High School Transcript must be attached) or it will not qualify and MUST INCLUDE:

  • Completed Application (available at gefaz.org ).
  • PDF copy of current high school transcript attached to your application. (Does not need to be official.)
  • Attach PDF to your application of any other required documents, if any (specific to each scholarship – read applications to check for requirements).

Academic Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is based upon a graduating senior’s cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and must have participated in extra-curricular activities.  No particular field of study is required. CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

STEM Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for students who are pursuing any Science, Technology, Engineering or Math major. You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Female STEM Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is to help increase the number of females entering into the STEM field.  Open to any female students who are pursuing any Science, Technology, Engineering or Math major. You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Dignity Health Medical Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for students who are pursuing a degree in health care. Preference is given for those students who are currently or have been in the past a part of the “Volunteen” program through Dignity Health.  Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be attending a college located in Arizona.  Student must also have 40 hours of verifiable community service.  CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Dignity Health “Humankindness” Medical Career Scholarship ($1,275) – This scholarship is for students who want to pursue a medical career pathway at a medical trade/vocational school, technical school, or a community college trade/technical medical program in Arizona.  Student must illustrate a financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.  CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Dignity Health Tuition Scholarship to attend University of Arizona – Scrubs Explore Medicine Summer Residential Camp ($600) - This scholarship is to pay the camp fee for the in-residence University of Arizona - Scrubs Explore Medicine Summer Residential Camp.  The Explore Medicine Camp is for current 11th grade students who are interested in becoming physicians. Participants will spend one-week exploring physician specialties by learning from various medical doctors. CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Volunteerism Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship will be based on applicants having a minimum of 200 verified volunteer hours in community service and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. There is no particular field of study required. CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Business Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for students who are pursuing a career in business.  Student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.  CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Musical Arts   (Coons Family)  Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship was generously provided by the Coon’s family (Gilbert Alumni), to benefit a senior from Gilbert High School who is pursuing a degree in music arts, including performance, theory, literature, etc.   Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Thank a GPS Educator Scholarship ($1,000 for student, $1,000 for Educator) This unique scholarship is open to any student who is attending either a two or a four-year college.  This scholarship gives students a chance to thank an educator who has made a difference in their education.  Educator must be a current employee of the GPS district.  The selection will be based on the student’s essay illustrating the impact this person has had on them.  Student will receive $1,000 for college and Educator will receive $1,000 to be used for professional development, teaching supplies, curriculum, etc.  Student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. First Generation Scholarship ($1,000)  This scholarship is for a student who will be the first member of their family to pursue a four-year college degree and neither parent has completed a college education above an associates degree.  No particular field of study is required.   A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required. CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Career and Technical Education Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for a student who is pursuing a CTE pathway at a trade school, technical school, or community college trade/technical program.  Preference is given to those who has at least 2 years in CTE high school coursework and/or industry certification.  A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is required. CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Michael Sabastian Carl Memorial Scholarship ($3,000) This scholarship is in memory of Michael Sabastian Carl a former student at Val Vista Lakes Elementary. Applicants must meet the following requirements:  1. Must have been a student of Val Vista Lakes Elementary in the Gilbert district.  2.  Must be pursuing an education in the medical or education field (Does not need to be a four-year school.  A two-year school or a trade school is acceptable as long as the field of study or training is in education or medical).  3.  Must explain a financial need and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 of higher.  CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

GEF Believe in Yourself Scholarship ($3,000) This scholarship will be awarded to a student who may have faced challenges in their past, but believes in their future.  Applicant must be pursuing a two-year degree at a Maricopa Community College.  Cumulative GPA must not exceed 2.5. This scholarship is renewable if the student after completing their first year of community college continues to be in good standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher each semester. CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION

Note that falsification of information or submission of late or incomplete application disqualifies the applicant. Submission and Gilbert Education Foundation (GEF) acceptance of a completed application does not guarantee an award.  All GEF monies will be paid directly to the college, university or technical/vocational school.  All applications remain confidential and become the property of the GEF.
