SCHOLARHIPS OPEN TO ALL GPS HIGH SCHOOLS (Specific School Only Scholarship Listings Follow):
Academic Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is based upon a graduating senior’s cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and must have participated in extra-curricular activities. No particular field of study is required.
Female STEM Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is to help increase the number of females entering into the STEM field. Open to any female students who are pursuing any Science, Technology, Engineering or Math major. You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Dignity Health Medical Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for students who are pursuing a degree in health care. Preference is given for those students who are currently or have been in the past a part of the “Volunteen” program through Dignity Health. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be attending a college located in Arizona. Student must also have 40 hours of verifiable community service.
Dignity Health “Humankindness” Medical Career Scholarship ($1,275) – This scholarship is for students who want to pursue a medical career pathway at a medical trade/vocational school, technical school, or a community college in Arizona - NOT A FOUR YEAR UNIVERSITY. Student must illustrate a financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Volunteerism Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship will be based on applicants having a minimum of 200 verified volunteer hours in community service and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. There is no particular field of study required.
Business Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for students who are pursuing a career in business. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Thank a GPS Educator Scholarship ($1,000 for student, $1,000 for Educator) This unique scholarship is open to any student who is attending either a two or a four-year college. This scholarship gives students a chance to thank an educator who has made a difference in their education. Educator must be a current employee of the GPS district. The selection will be based on the student’s essay illustrating the impact this person has had on them. Student will receive $1,000 for college and educator will receive $1,000 to be used for professional development, teaching supplies, curriculum, etc. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Any area of college study is accepted.
First Generation Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for a student who will be the first member of their family to pursue a four-year college degree and neither parent has completed a college education above an associates degree. No particular field of study is required. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.
Career and Technical Education Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for a student who is pursuing a CTE pathway at a trade school, technical school, or community college trade/CTE program. Preference is given to those who has at least 2 years in CTE high school coursework and/or industry certification. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is required.
GEF Believe in Yourself Scholarship ($3,000) This scholarship will be awarded to a student who may have faced challenges in their past, but believes in their future. Applicant must be pursuing a two-year degree at a Maricopa Community College. Cumulative GPA must not exceed 2.5. This scholarship is renewable if the student after completing their first year of community college continues to be in good standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher each semester.
GILBERT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENtS ONLY:
Musical Arts (Coons Family) Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship was generously provided by the Coon’s family (Gilbert Alumni), to benefit a senior from Gilbert High School who is pursuing a degree in music arts, including performance, theory, literature, etc. Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Please see application for specifics.
Rene Riley Memorial Scholarship ($500) This scholarship is in memory of Rene Riley, a former student of Gilbert High School. Applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. Must be a graduating senior from Gilbert High School. 2. Must participate in GHS Track and/or Cross Country team(s). 3. Must be female. 4. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Charlee Hawkins Memorial Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is in memory of Charlee Hawkins, a former student of Gilbert High School. Applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. Must be a graduating senior of GHS. 2. Must have volunteer community service. 3. Must have been involved in extracurricular activities. 4. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher. Scholarship recipient can be attending community college, four-year university or technical school.
Highland High School
Power of One Highland High School Scholarship: ($1,000) This scholarship was created on behalf of HHS who raised the most for GEF’s annual Power of One Campaign to help fund Campus Innovation Grants. Applicants must meet the following requirements: (1) Must be a graduating senior from Highland School. (2) Must be pursuing a degree or certificate at a 4 year, 2 year or vocational/CTE school. (3) Must have a cumulative GPS of 2.5 or higher.
Michael Sabastian Carl Memorial Scholarship ($3,000) This scholarship is in memory of Michael Sabastian Carl a former student of Val Vista Lakes Elementary. Applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. Must be a graduating senior from Highland High School. 2. Must be pursuing an education in the medical or education field. 3. Preference given to those attending a two-year school or a trade school. 3. Must explain a financial need. 4. Cannot have higher than a 2.8 cumulative GPA to apply.
Mesquite High School
Islands Women’s Club Scholarship ($1,000) This scholarship is for female students who are pursuing a two-year degree/trade school or vocational program located in Arizona. You must be a Mesquite High School Senior and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. This scholarship is intended for young women who may have been limited in pursuing the traditional measures of high school success, grades and volunteerism, due to special circumstances or a necessity to work. Successful applicants will have a career goal requiring a 1-2 year Associates degree or a vocational certificate. Financial need, work history, personal history, GPA, career goals, and community service will be taken into consideration. Please see application for specifics. (Two students will be selected to each receive a $1,000 scholarship.)
